The university has still not updated whether the school will be closed tomorrow due to weather.
Snow began to fall Sunday morning, leaving about an inch an half on the ground by 6 p.m.
Local school districts have cancelled school for tomorrow, including Oklahoma City, Edmond, and Norman.
Provost Susan Barber is in charge of making the decision regarding school closing. To make this decision, Barber consults with several faculty members including risk manager Ian Wolfe. Barber also consults the National Weather Service and other universities.
“The first consideration is the safety of all of our students,” said Leslie Berger, director of public relations.
While the accumulation of snow and ice is considered when making a decision, there is not a set amount that will cancel school.
“It is not an exact science,” Berger said.
If there is a cancelation, students will be notified via BlueAlert, Facebook, Twitter, and on the OCU website. Online news and TV media sources will also be notified.
