Friends actor David Schwimmer is returning to the small screen in ABC’s upcoming comedy pilot Irreversible. In addition to starring, Schwimmer will also produce the project, which is based on the Israeli series Bilti Hafich. Emma Thompson has signed on to star in upcoming comic thriller The Long Midnight of Barney Thomson, directed by and co-starring Trainspotting actor Robert Carlyle. Actor Kurt Russell is open to steroid use in Major League Baseball. While promoting his documentary The Battered Bastards of Baseball, the actor stopped by the Variety offices and presented his views on the subject – namely, that steroids still have their place in the game. The Newsroom actress Grace Gummer has been cast in CBS’ drama Extant. Gummer will play one of the minds in charge of building robot prototypes in the mystery thriller, which stars Halle Berry as an astronaut struggling to reconnect with her family after a space mission.
