- Universal has selected Breaking Bad scribe Gennifer Hutchinson to write a film adaptation of Victoria Aveyard’s novel The Red Queen, about a world in which society is divided by the color of blood. - Martin Scorsese will receive the Cinematic Imagery Award at the 18th annual Art Directors Guild’s Excellence in Production Design Awards. Scorsese will be feted for his filmmaking and for founding the Film Foundation and the World Cinema Project, two non-profit organizations dedicated to the preservation, restoration and protection of film. - Bryan Singer has announced that X-Men: Apocalypse is slated for a 2016 release. Singer recently wrapped X-Men: Days of Future Past, which will premiere on May 23, 2014. For more on the X-Men franchise, click here.
- Ian Harding, Carol Kane, and Harry Potter actress Evanna Lynch are set to star in upcoming indie crime thriller Dynamite: A Cautionary Tale. Directed by Tate Steinsiek, the film will star Harding as a dope fiend working in the porn industry in 1968 New York City. Shooting on the project began this week.
