- Marvel has confirmed that Elizabeth Olson and Aaron Taylor-Johnson will play Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. Quicksilver will also appear in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, though he will be played by Evan Peters. - Imogen Poots has been cast in Cross Creek Pictures and Smuggler Films’ upcoming Beautiful Ruins, based on Jess Walters’ novel of the same name. Poots will star as an American ingenue who travels to Italy in 1962 during the production of Cleopatra. The film will be directed by Todd Field. To read more on the project, click here.
- Magnolia Pictures has acquired the North American distribution rights to Filth. The film, which as already opened in the U.K., stars James McAvoy as a dirty cop who comes unhinged during a murder case. McAvoy’s costars include Jamie Bell and Jim Broadbent. For more on the movie, click here.
- Nominations for the 29th Independent Spirit Awards have been announced. Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave leads with seven nominations, followed by Alexander Payne’s Nebraska with six. See the full list here.
