OCU has a new online degree checklist in the making for next semester.
The program, called DegreeWorks, is an online degree audit and checklist. Students and advisers will be able to see the degree and general education requirements for a certain degree, and what classes the student has yet to complete.
The program also shows which classes fulfill certain general education requirements, and how many spots are available.
DegreeWorks is not a substitute for registration.
The program is being tested this semester. Advisers will be able to use DegreeWorks next semester, and students will be able to access it through Star Access in the Fall 2014 semester.
The program is designed to give the student an idea of how much more they have to complete for their degree and to help keep advisers and students informed.
“It is very clear and transparent,” said Angela Do, degree audit coordinator. “It will show students what they need to graduate.”
The program was designed to include the new general education requirements. Students who matriculated before the Fall 2012 semester may not be able to see their requirements on DegreeWorks.
Do said the program will be useful for students.
“It is a very popular program,” Do said. “It is going to be very useful.”
