The Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management will present their annual Home for the Holidays Christmas dance show Dec. 5-8.
The production features 163 dancers and has 26 numbers choreographed by the school faculty.
There are two casts that perform on different dates.
“We have the old favorites like The March of the Toy Soldiers and Santa Kickline, but of course, every year we have new dances,” said Victoria Jameson, dance performance junior.
Jameson said she is excited about dance chairman Jo Rowan and tap professor Diana Brook’s Christmas Glo-Worm piece.
“Grandma gets run over by a reindeer, and Rudolph is the main suspect,” Jameson said. “The glowworm tries to take over for Rudolph, and some of the reindeer don’t want that to happen.”
The pieces When Christmas Comes to Town and Love is Christmas honor the victims of the May 20 tornados in Moore, Okla.
“These dances are done as an homage to the generous people that helped with the tornado victims, and also as a love prayer for people who lost their children,” Rowan, said.
The Star of Bethlehem piece incorporates 200 yards of silk that stretch across the stage.
Guest dancers Sophia Davies and Catie Leonard will join the American Spirit Dance Company members during this dance.
At the end of the production, snow will fall into the audience.
“We have a huge nativity that I don’t think anybody can match–not even Radio City,” Rowan said. “We don’t have their money, but we have more love.”
Home for the Holidays performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Dec. 5-7 with matinees at 2 p.m. Dec. 7 and 8.
All shows are in Kirkpatrick Auditorium in Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center.
