- James Badge Dale has joined Cate Blanchett in the cast of writer-director David Mamet’s upcoming Blackbird. Dale will play a military major trying to discover the truth about his grandfather who worked for the US special ops in the 1960s. For more on the project and on Dale’s career, click here.
- The Bold and the Beautiful producer Colleen Bradley Bell has been named the new ambassador to Hungary. The nomination for the post will now move to the Senate for confirmation and approval. “I am grateful these accomplished individuals have agreed to join this Administration, and I’m confident they will serve ably in these important roles,” President Obama said in a statement announcing the appointment and several others. “I look forward to working with them in the coming months and years.” To read more, click here.
- Fox is developing a new buddy comedy from Conan O’Brien, entitled I Knew You When. The half-hour series will be about the “bumpy road to success,” as told from the dual perspectives of two old men. - Disney has released a casting call in the U.K. and Ireland for what is being interpreted as the studio’s seventh Star Wars installment. In the announcement, the studio says it’s looking for someone to play “Rachel,” a 17- or 18-year-old young woman, and “Thomas,” a 19 – or 23-year-old young man.
