I had the great opportunity to be at a soft launch for Rehearsals, the new campus restaurant at the corner of 23rd Street and Kentucky.
It is refreshing to finally get another option on campus aside from Alvin’s Cafe, which to me is getting old.
The atmosphere inside is nice, and the location is close enough to walk to from just about any place on campus.
The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly to those of us who were there.
Believe it or not, the thing I was most impressed about what the quality of the food.
To my understanding, this restaurant was going to be a “mom and pop” café that served burgers and fries in a basket with some wax paper.
My chicken sandwich came out on a square plate and was a really high quality sandwich, much better than what I was expecting.
Square plates may not seem like too big of a deal to you, but where I’m from, we usually don’t get that fancy.
The food was really great, and my group tried both of the desserts on the menu.
The root beer float was good, and the French toast was also great with its Nutella filling and raspberry and chocolate complements.
My only critique would be that it is a little pricey for what the average college student wants to spend on a meal.
However, it is not too pricey for the quality of the food, which is a little better than what college students eat.
The service was good, the food was good and you should be excited about the new option coming your way.
It may be more expensive than Alvin’s, but not by a whole lot.
I plan on heading back soon.
