Elizabeth Stolper was crowned Miss OCU 2014.
Stolper, dance performance sophomore, competed in the Miss OCU pageant along with 12 other contestants. The pageant was Saturday in Kirkpatrick Auditorium in Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center.
In addition to the Miss OCU title, Stolper also tied for overall talent for her lyrical dance to “You Raise Me Up.”
“I’m literally so excited,” she said. “This is a huge goal for me. I’m so excited to go to Miss Oklahoma and represent OCU.”
Miss OCU 2013 Sarah Beth White said giving away her crown was bittersweet.
“It’s been the best experience,” she said. “I’ve always wanted to be Miss OCU.”
White said she is excited for Stolper. The women are in Gamma Phi Beta sorority together and both study in the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management.
“She is an amazing performer,” White said. “I’m so excited to see what she will do this year.”
Stopler will receive two semesters of full tuition and will add breast cancer awareness to her existing platform of Triumph Over Adversity: Supporting Performing Arts for Children.
Stolper will begin the process of preparing for Miss Oklahoma with the help of Darwina Marshall, president and executive director of the Miss OCU pageant and the leader of the prep team for Miss Oklahoma.
“We will create an image for her,” Marshall said. “It will take us about nine months to get her ready for Miss Oklahoma in June.”
