Miss OCU 2014 will not have a counterpart.
The Mr. OCU competition was canceled due to lack of interest. The competition was scheduled for Oct. 18.
Many of the men who planned to enter the pageant also were participating in a production, officials said. Only two men registered for the pageant.
“We can’t build a show around two guys,” said Darwina Marshall, president and executive director for the Miss OCU Scholarship Pageant Board. “We will just have to try again next year.”
Students are disappointed that the contest was canceled.
“It’s really sad,” said Belle Schmidt, dance management freshman. “It’s important to have a male representative from our school.”
Elliott Mattox was last year’s Mr. OCU. He received a cash prize for winning the contest. Eight men competed in that contest.
