The first Stage Two of the TheatreOCU season, Private Eyes, will open this weekend in the Burg Theater.
The show, written by Stephen Dietz, will feature 7 student performers.
“The play has a real bizarre kind of humor that I feel I really adapt to,” said acting senior Hunter Canedy, the show’s director.
Private Eyes is a comedy about a man who is performing a play with his wife. His insecurities grow as he becomes convinced that his wife is having an affair with the show’s director.
“The play explores his mind and what his worst fears are, and that’s very attractive,” Canedy said.
Canedy faced some technical challenges in putting on the show, which calls for highly involved lighting design that reflects each character’s state of mind.
“The play does a really good job capturing what goes on in your mind when you are convinced your significant other is cheating on you,” Canedy said.
Nathan Dunn, acting senior, plays “Matthew,” who plays a part in the fictional play. He enjoys the show’s unique perspective.
“The play takes an affair, which is something some people have experienced, but it looks at it through the lens of comedy, and that makes it unique,” Dunn said.
The show will be on October 3-5 at 8:00pm and October 6 at 2:00pm. Tickets are $5 and can be bought at the door of the days of the show.
