Student Government Association will host a ‘White Out Wednesday’ tailgating party to support OCU soccer teams today,.
The festivities are from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Team One Pavillion across from United Methodist Hall.
It is free for students.
The event will feature classic tailgating food catered by Sodexo.
There will be games, music and a special performance from the Wanda L. Bass School of Music guitar ensemble.
“We wanted to bring some other parts of the school over to unite the campus,” said Jason Chaplin, SGA’s director of special projects.
Students are encouraged to show campus pride by wearing white.
OCU’s first tailgate will end in time for students to cheer on the soccer teams as they play against John Brown University.
The women’s game begins at 5 p.m. and the men’s game begins at 7 p.m. at Stars Field.
Campus organizations will receive participation points for attending the event.
SGA anticipates 200 to 300 students to attend from more than 30 organizations.
The organization with the largest attendance will win SGA’s spirit stick.
Chaplin and Thad Ernst, SAC President are excited to bring their tailgating expertise to OCU.
“All we’ve done our whole lives is tailgate,” Ernst said. “We’re both from Oklahoma.
“ We know how to tailgate.”
The next tailgating event is scheduled for Nov. 6 to promote the men’s basketball game against Langston University.
SGA plans to host two more tailgating events in the spring to support softball and baseball.
“We’re going to try to show that SGA really does care about this campus,” Ernst said.

This is not the first tailgating event. As I previously mentioned, SGA did this under a former administration.
