The Oklahoma Regatta Festival returns Oct. 2-6 to the Oklahoma River.
The men’s and women’s rowing teams are set to compete in regatta events.
The festival is a five-day celebration of events such as the 2013 OKC Canoe Marathon invitational, Oklahoma Gas and Electric Nightsprints, and OCU’s Head of the Oklahoma racing events.
The men’s and women’s rowing teams are scheduled to compete Saturday and Sunday.
The festival is a family fun event with live music, fireworks, and food and drinks from restaurants around Oklahoma City.
At last year’s festival, Senior Matthew Maddamma and Edgars Boitmanis placed second at the Men’s Open/Lightweight 2x 500m Grand Final.
The competition included a third place finish from two more rowers, Campbell Rhodes and Jackson Anderson.
Maddamma also placed first in the Men’s Op/Lt/Mast 1x 500m Grand Final.
The men’s team will be looking to build on recent successes, such as Matt Mahon, Matthew Maddamma, and Jackson Anderson qualifying for the Under 23 World Rowing Championships in Linz, Austria.
Boitmanis also took first at the 2013 Dad Vail Regatta men’s collegiate single.
