The 2013 Homecoming committee revealed the theme for the competition on Sept. 30.
The 2013 Homecoming theme is “Start”.
Caleb Dicke, dance performance senior and Homecoming commissioner, said the theme is a reflection of growth for the OCU campus and surrounding community.
“I am really excited about the new school logo, the new sorority and the new Uptown 23rd district,” Dicke said. “It all boils down to a sense of community at OCU.”
This year, a new event will be hosted for the Uptown 23rd St. businesses on Oct 30. Some restaurants and local businesses, including Big Truck Tacos and 23rd St. Piercing, will give discounts to OCU students who wear their Homecoming shirts.
Also new this year, seniors who are a part of participating organizations are invited to go to Belle Isle with alumni after the Lip Sync competition.
Dicke said the emphasis will be on welcoming alumni back to OCU.
Organizations will compete in the sweepstakes competition in different categories, including Lip Sync, Spirit Structure, window painting, and participation.
