- Sony Pictures and Annapurna Pictures have announce plans for Sausage Party, an R-rated animated movie about a sausage’s quest to discover the truth about his existence. The film will be directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan and written by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir. To read more on the project, click here.
- The American Cinematheque will honor Jerry Bruckheimer at its annual gala this December. Bruckheimer will be lauded for his being “an extraordinary artist in the entertainment industry who is fully engaged in his or her work and is committed to making a significant contribution to the art of the motion picture.” Previous honorees include George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Samuel Jackson, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., and Ben Stiller. - SAG-AFTRA has given its first American Scene awards to ABC Family and series creator Brenda Hampton for their show Secret Life of the American Teenager, Detroit Public Television for Arab American Stories, and Universal Music Group for their entire catalog and roster of artists. The awards will be presented this Friday as part of the celebration for SAG-AFTRA’s inaugural convention in Los Angeles. The shows and organizations mentioned are being honored for their commitment to employing the talents of individuals belonging to misrepresented or underrepresented groups. - Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance is in negotiations to direct ESPN: Those Guys Have All the Fun. The film is based on the James Andrew Miller and Tom Shales book about the rise of the popular sports channel. Though Cianfrance is known mainly for his dramatic features, he has recently been praised for his commercials for Dick’s Sporting Goods.
