Several trees and bushes are campus are blocking sight lines for drivers, creating a potentially dangerous situation.
A main concern is a plant that is blocking the view of oncoming traffic in Cokesbury.
“It could cause an accident,” said Alyssa Reed, kinesiology senior.
OCU takes pride in creating an aesthetically pleasing campus. While the gardening is beautiful to look at, some students are concerned that it could cause problems when driving.
In front of Cokesbury Court Apartments there is a large plant by the entrance sign. This plant shields visibility of oncoming cars, making left turns difficult for people leaving the apartments. There is another bush causing similar problems on the corner near the panhellenic quad.
“It annoys me, because when you go to turn left you can’t see,” said Ashley Story, early childhood education junior and Cokesbury resident.
This problem has already been addressed once by Cokesbury management. Last spring, a bush was removed from the entrance of Cokesbury to help enhance visibility while driving.
Jeri Jones, administrative assistant for University Housing, said she doesn’t know of any concern reports from students since the bush was removed last year. Students should voice any concerns to the Cokesbury office or OCU Facilities and Maintenance.
