The men’s wrestling program has hired Nikolas Turner, a former member of the wrestling team, as the new assistant coach.
Turner wrestled at OCU from 2007-2012 and is replacing former assistant coach John Wilcox.
Turner will work alongside his former coach Archie Randall.
As a former All-American, Turner said he hopes to help the wrestling program reach an NAIA National Championship this year.
Sophomore Jamie Shawver said he is excited about Turner being added to the coaching staff.
“He brings experience and a young enthusiasm to the program that no one else can,” Shawver said.
Turner was a business administration major during his time at OCU.
Besides being the coach on the mat, Turner also hopes to be a mentor for the team.
“My experience at OCU will help me be able to relate to my team as a former student-athlete,” Turner said.
“I will be able to give advice not only on the mat and classroom, but every aspect this school has to offer.”
Some of Turner’s accomplishments while attending OCU include being a three-time All-American, national runner-up, Jim Wade award winner, NAIA Champion of Character, team captain, and two-time OCU wrestler of the year.
