Several faculty members were recently advised that bringing dogs or other pets on campus would not be allowed.
Many students bring their pets to campus to play on the Quad or visit friends.
Therapy dogs also are brought to campus for students to pet during midterms and finals as a stress reliever.
Soon, students and faculty may not be allowed to bring animals on campus.
Students are not allowed to have animals in the dorms because of pet hair and dander. The only pets allowed in the residence halls are fish, and other pets that can be kept in a fish bowl.
There is no formal rule or regulation on whether animals are allowed to come on campus for shorts amount of time, but this could change.
While students cannot house animals in the dorms because of health and safety reasons, seeing dogs play on the quad will lift almost anyone’s spirit.
Bringing pets onto campus should be acceptable, especially during stressful times.
This provides an outlet for the pet to get some exercise and human interaction, along with provided an outlet for people who enjoy playing with pets.
Pets brought on campus should be trained, and dogs should be on leashes.
The owner should also be responsible for picking up after their animal.
Students and faculty should not be restricted on bringing their pets to campus, even for a short amount of time.
