OCU students are known for their commitment to various organizations and participation in multiple activities at any given time.
The freshman class this year seems to be extremely involved in campus organizations and groups.
A record number of women went through sorority recruitment this year. More than 150 women signed up for rush week activities.
Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Phi and Gamma Phi Beta all gave more than 40 bids each.
Phi Mu just finished recruitment and had more than 20 women at Bid Day festivities.
Kappa Phi also had a record number turn out for recruitment activities this year.
The organization had 37 women pledge during Degree of the Pine last week.
About 12 freshmen showed interest in the recent Student Government Association freshman-at-large election for Student Senate.
This is the most candidates the organization has had for the position in several years.
Organizations such as Relay For Life also saw an increase of students who expressed interest during Stars Week, the freshmen Orientation Week.
It is positive to see so many organizations grow and flourish with the interest of the incoming class.
The student Publications staff looks forward to seeing where this new group of students takes the various campus organizations.
