- Variety has selected its 10 Actors to Watch list for 2013. Highlights include Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station), Lea Seydoux (Blue is the Warmest Color), and Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis). Profiles of the 10 actors will appear in print on October 8. For the rest of the list, click here.
- YouTube is launching its own film festival, which will be called the Buffer Film Festival and will be held from November 8 to 10 in Toronto. Organizers are calling it a digital version of the Toronto International Film Festival. The event will include themed screenings of content across genres, as well as screenings presented by celebrity YouTube users. For more information on the festival, click here.
- Popular classical pop quartet Il Divo is set for a Broadway concert engagement at the Marquis Theater this November. The group will perform selections from their new Broadway-themed album, A Musical Affair, which includes versions of standards such as “Some Enchanted Evening” from South Pacific and “Bring Him Home” from Les Miserables. - Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner’s first significant feature film effort, You Are Here, at the Toronto International Film Festival next week. The film stars Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis, Amy Poehler and Laura Ramsey. “This is not like TV where you return to your familiar cast every week,” Weiner said of the filmmaking process. “You have to win the respect of your stars.
