Student Government Association has created a website in hopes of improving communication with the campus community.
The website, launched Aug. 11, features links to important documents, including the Student Code of Conduct and allotment information.
“I think the website will be a great tool for students to go to and use,” said Terrance Craft, mass communications junior and secretary of public relations.
Craft, along with Beatrize Martinez, Student Government Association president; Edgars Boitmanis, Student Senate president and Ali Seif, director of technology sevices, worked together for more than three months to produce the website.
“We will be showing students how to use the site at the first Prexie Club meeting,” Craft said.
Prexie Club is a weekly meeting that presidents of student organizations attend to meet with SGA.
Students also may use the website to nominate faculty/staff of the month or to view upcoming Student Activities Council events.
Improving communication between SGA and the student body was one of the campaign goals of Beatrize Martinez.
Craft said the website will help achieve this goal.
“The website opens up a channel and helps with communication to the student body,” he said. “We did a survey, and students prefer text messages or other forms of communication over email.”
Students also can submit questions, comments or concerns via the website through the “Tell Us” tab.
“The email goes to the SGA email, which Beatrize and I check frequently,” Craft said.
MaryAnn Grover, economics/finance sophomore, said she thinks the website will be helpful for students.
“I think it’ll be a good resource for students to go get information about SGA,” Grover said. “It will help people to be more in the know, especially for incoming freshmen.”
