A new academic year has begun, and many students and faculty are looking for their niches in the larger community.
Students are settling in and making new friends in the dorms and the classroom, as faculty and staff are connecting with new and returning students.
The beginning of a new school year is a perfect time to find new ways to participate in campus life at OCU.
While it isn’t encouraged to exhaust oneself with too many obligations, it is important for students on this campus to get involved. OCU is sometimes referred to as Overcommitted University by its students.
During Stars Week, students had the opportunity to interact with a variety of campus organizations at Campus Connect, then learn about OCU and the Oklahoma City community at the Involved Fair.
In the coming weeks, students are encouraged to attend meetings and to learn about all of the different organizations on campus.
There is something for everyone here.
Future politicians may want to take a look at Student Government Association.
Religious organizations cater to a wide range of creeds.
Those who enjoy writing, photography, design, or videography may find a place at Student Publications.
There also are many clubs and groups within departments and schools.
Take the first couple weeks of school to try out a new organization or two, get involved in a group or even start your own.
Make the most of the once-in-a-lifetime college experience, and find your place (or places) at OCU.
