Alcohol Contact Thursday, 4-4-13 2:20pm; Cokesbury Court Apartments; Incident # 13-04-005; suspect: 2 students; reporting person: Apartment Manager Liz Ramirez; evidence: 1-liter ½ full bottle of Peach vodka; Officer Roland Garrett was dispatched to Cokesbury Apartments regarding alcoholic beverages in a specific apartment. Upon arrival he met with apartment manager Ms. Liz Ramirez who said she was performing routine inspections and discovered a bottle of vodka in a kitchen refrigerator. They went to the apartment and met with one of the students who said they both were aware of the policy regarding alcoholic beverages on campus. The officer photographed the vodka and disposed of it. This incident will be forwarded to Dean of Students Dr. Liz Donnelly and Asst. Dean Mr. Josh Waddell for administrative adjudication.
Non-Injury Vehicle Collision Friday, 4-5-13 5:58pm; Cokesbury Court Apartments (parking area between building # 7 and # 2); Incident # 13-04-008; driver # 1: student, vehicle: white 2008 Honda Civic; driver # 2: student, vehicle: gray 2007 Toyota Corolla; Sergeant Michael Kavenius was dispatched to Cokesbury Apartments in reference to a non-injury vehicle collision. Upon arrival he met with both drivers who said they were simultaneously backing out of opposite parking spaces and collided in the driving lane. Vehicle # 1 sustained minor damage to the passenger side bumper and Vehicle # 2 had shell damage to the passenger side back door. The evidence coincides with the statement of the drivers and they exchanged insurance information. Photos were taken of the damage.
DUI and Driving Under Suspension Friday, 4-5-13 11:15pm; NW 30th and Pennsylvania Avenue; Incident # 13-04-009; arrested: Kory Brent Oswald (no OCU affiliation); passenger: Jay Patrick Stewart (no OCU affiliation); involved vehicle: silver 2003 Honda Civic; Sergeant Michael Kavenius’ radar documented a silver Honda travelling west on NW 30th 42/30 mph zone. As the Honda passed by the patrol unit, the Honda’s horn was going off in random blasts. The sergeant stopped the Honda at NW 30th and Youngs Boulevard. The driver said he was keeping time with his radio music by using his car horn. The driver, Kory Brent Oswald (no OCU affiliation), failed all of the field dexterity tests including the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus Test (HGNT). Sergeant Kavenius discovered that Mr. Oswald had a flagged suspended Oklahoma DL for a Failure to Appear citation out of Arkansas. Mr. Oswald was read the Oklahoma Implied Consent of which he elected to not take a blood/breath test. He was arrested and transported to the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Upon arrival the sergeant filled out the Officer’s Affidavit and Notice of Revocation/Disqualification form and will submit it to the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety. The passenger in Mr. Oswald’s vehicle was not intoxicated and was allowed to take custody of the vehicle at the scene.
