The Senate Agriculture and Rural Development Committee voted 9-0 to pass a bill legalizing the slaughter of horses in Oklahoma.
House Bill 1999 upholds the ban on the sale of horse meat for human consumption, but overturns the ban on slaughtering horses.
The bill has already passed the full House and could be heard by the full Senate as early as next week.
