Police still are searching for suspects after a March 12 shooting that resulted in officials putting OCU on lockdown.

The fight involved “30 female gang members of the Hoover 170’s and Bloods,” the report read.
Police found shell casings at N.W. 29th and Kentucky Avenue that probably were from a handgun, Taylor said.
OCUPD called for the university to be locked down at 10:09 p.m. March 12 after officers heard seven shots fired east of where they were investigating, Taylor said. No suspects were found at either location, he said.
“There was nothing to indicate they were on our campus, so then we gave the all clear,” Taylor said.
The lockdown was lifted at 10:54 p.m.

Officials encourage students to heed lockdown warnings.
“If they are told to lockdown, stay locked down,” Taylor said. “The police are out there looking for suspects, we are trying to locate suspicious persons and eliminate suspects.”
Rick Hall, vice president for student affairs, agreed.
“The lockdown is really for protection,” Hall said. “We know it’s an inconvenience, but that’s really why we use the text notification system, Facebook and Twitter to try and keep everyone up-to-date and informed as quickly as possible what the issues are.”
