The House of Representatives Public Safety Committee voted 8-3 to pass a bill allowing public school teachers and administrators to carry loaded handguns on school property.
Local school boards would be given the authority to decide if teachers in the district would be able to carry handguns on school property. Teachers and administrators would be required to complete a six-week reserve officer training through the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training.
