The new restaurant plans to serve beer and wine.
Students also may use their Stars Cash and points at Rehearsals, where they could use their Stars Cash, allocated by the university, to purchase alcoholic beverages.
A percentage of the restaurant’s profits will go to the university.
While the university does not plan to run the business, the restaurant is on property owned by OCU.
“The use, possession, manufacture, or distribution of alcoholic beverages, and any form of public intoxication is prohibited on campus,” according to the 2012-2013 Student Code of Conduct.
We are not opposed to the idea of a restaurant serving alcohol on university property, it seems as though the university is adhering to its policies at its convenience.
The university is officially a dry campus and does not allow alcohol or public intoxication on its premises.
The restaurant is in direct opposition to those policies.
We hope administrators will review their policies on alcohol on campus.
