Grand Larceny Monday, 12-17-12 3:45pom; Henry J. Freede Wellness Center (Jim Wade Athletic Center); Incident # 12-12-026; suspect(s): none; item stolen: $600.00 cash; reporting person: Director of Athletics Jim Abbott; Officer Roland Garrett was dispatched to the Freede Wellness Center regarding the theft of cash money. Upon arrival he met with Director of Athletics Mr. Jim Abbott who said the three brown faux leather bags containing $200.00 in each bag were last observed on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 12:00pm. He further said the missing brown faux leather bags were located in a locked file cabinet in his office. He said only five people are aware of where the key is hidden in order to open the locked file cabinet. Officer Garrett did not observe any signs of forced entry. The suspect is probably affiliated with the daily tasks of working in or around Mr. Abbott’s office. Two months ago a large amount of cash was stolen from Mr. Abbott’s work area. This incident will be investigated by OCUPD and may require the use of polygraph tests and other investigative methods.
Public Intoxication Tuesday, 12-18-12 6:48pm; 7-11 Convenience Store NW 23rd and Pennsylvania Avenue; Incident # 12-12-029; arrested: Kevin Leonard Silverhorn (no OCU affiliation); Sergeant Michael Kavenius was dispatched to the 7-11 Convenience Store at NW. 23rd and Pennsylvania Avenue in reference to an intoxicated adult male who purchased a bottle of mouthwash and is refusing to leave the property. Upon arrival the sergeant was informed that Mr. Silverhorn had purchased a bottle of Equate mouthwash. Sergeant Kavenius observed the subject sitting near the intersection with a partially consumed bottle of mouthwash next to his feet. He required assistance in standing up and walking. The sergeant detected the odor of mouthwash on his breath and he displayed the demeanor of an intoxicated person. He was taken into custody and transported to the Public Inebriation Alternative Center where he registered a presumptive BAC of .193%.
Driving Under the Influence and Speeding (1-10 over) Posted Zone Wednesday, 12-19-12 1:28am; NW 23rd and Virginia Avenue; Incident # 12-12-030; arrested: Tommy Craig Hayes (no OCU affiliation); impounded vehicle: white 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup; Officer Mark Chenoweth paced a white Chevrolet pickup speeding west on NW 23rd and Virginia Avenue. He stopped the vehicle and communicated with the driver, Tommy Graig Hayes (no OCU affiliation), who emitted the odor of and alcoholic beverage from his breath. He also had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on his feet. Mr. Hayes failed all of the field dexterity test afford him including the SFST Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test with six clues. He was arrested for DUI and read the Oklahoma Implied Consent of which he elected to refuse any additional tests. His vehicle was impounded and he was transported to the Oklahoma County Detention Center. The officer will file the appropriate paperwork with the Department of Public Safety which will (usually) result in Mr. Hayes’ DL revocation.
