Non-Injury Vehicle Collision Monday, 12-3-12 4:46pm; Cokesbury Court Apartments (parking lot west side of building # 10); Incident # 12-12-006; owner: student, vehicle: red 1998 Chevrolet Camaro; driver # 2: unknown driver and vehicle; Officer Roland Garrett was dispatched to Cokesbury Apartments in reference to a parked vehicle that was damaged by an unknown vehicle. Upon arrival he met with the owner who said the damage occurred between Sunday, 12-2-12 9:00pm and Monday, 12-4-12 4:45pm. The officer observed damage to the rear driver side bumper with no suspect paint transfer. Photos were taken of the damage.
Public Intoxication Wednesday, 12-5-12 9:06am; NW 26th and Virginia Avenue; Incident # 12-12-010; arrested: Vernace Bowler (no OCU affiliation); Officer Roland Garrett observed an adult male staggering at the intersection of at NW 26th and Virginia Avenue. He met with the subject who identified himself as Vernace Bowler (no OCU affiliation). The officer observed that Mr. Bowler had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and the odor associated with an alcoholic beverage about his breath and person. He was taken into custody and transported to the Public Inebriation Alternative Center where he registered a BAC of. .18%.
Driving Under the Influence and Driving the Wrong Way on a One Way Street Thursday, 12-6-12 1:00am; NW 24th and Classen Boulevard; Incident # 12-12-011; arrested: Christopher Jovay Wilkerson (no OCU affiliation); vehicle: black 2006 Hyundai SGX 4dr; Officer Mark Chenoweth was meeting with OCSO Deputy Bass who was warning an adult male who had urinated in a parking lot. He allowed the subject to leave the area as a pedestrian after warning him to not attempt to drive his parked vehicle. Approximately 20 minutes later Officer Chenoweth observed the same person driving his black 2006 Hyundai the wrong way on Douglas Avenue. He stopped the vehicle and observed the driver, Christopher Jovay Wilkerson, to have the odor and comportment of an alcohol intoxicated person. He failed all field dexterity tests including the HGN test. He was arrested for DUI and was informed of the state Implied Consent of which he elected to take the breath test. His vehicle was released to the custody of his mother and Mr. Wilkerson was transported to the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Upon arrival he refused to properly take the breath test as instructed which constituted a refusal. His DL will eventually be revoked after the officer submits the incident to the Department of Public Safety.
