Driving Under the Influence and Fail to Maintain Lane Saturday, 11-17-12 11:46pm; 1500 Block NW 23rd; Incident # 12-11-024; arrested: Misty Dawn Nicholson (no OCU affiliation); impounded vehicle: silver 2008 BMW SUV; Sergeant John Jackson was working radar in the 1500 block of NW 23rd and observed a silver BMW SUV travelling east. The vehicle struck the curb rupturing the right front and rear tires. The vehicle eventually stopped in the 2500 block of N. Pennsylvania Avenue. The driver, Misty Dawn Nicholson (no OCU affiliation), exited the vehicle in a slow methodical manner and was unsteady on her feet. She failed the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test in addition to all other field tests. Ms. Nicholson was read the Implied Consent of which she chose to take the breath test. Her vehicle was impounded and she was transported to the OCPD headquarters were she registered a BAC of .19%. Ms. Nicholson was then transported to the Oklahoma County Detention Center for incarceration.
Agency Assist (2 OCU students involved) Wednesday, 11-21-12 4:13am; NW 23rd and Pennsylvania Avenue; Incident # 12-11-026; involved persons: two OCU students. Officer Mark Chenoweth was assisting an OCPD officer at NW 23rd and Pennsylvania Avenue involving two vehicles in an injury traffic collision. EMSA, OCFD Engine # 10 and a wrecker service were sent to the scene. Another Oklahoma City Police Department patrol unit approached the intersection using emergency lights and siren and struck a red Volvo occupied by two OCU students. The red Volvo had a green light. The damage was extensive however, both students were not injured. The Volvo did a 180 degree turn around and the air bags were activated as a result of the collision. All vehicles involved in the collisions were taken away via wrecker trucks.
Agency Assist Thursday, 11-22-12 8:23pm; 2800 Block N. Classen Boulevard; Incident # 12-11-027; arrested: Jason Khamchan Chansombat (no OCU affiliation); Sergeant John Jackson was in the area of NW 27th and Classen Boulevard and observed two vehicles on Classen Boulevard that were involved in a collision with one of the vehicles being upside down. A witness on scene said he observed two males from one of the vehicle to run from the scene. Sergeant Jackson directed traffic until an OCPD unit arrived on scene. He then patrolled the area until he observed an adult male walking south in the 2900 block of Military Drive. The subject matched a suspect description and had a minor laceration on his right forearm. He was taken into custody and transported back to the accident scene and released to the custody of an OCPD officer.
Fugitive from Justice (23 felony arrest warrants) and Notice to Vacate Saturday, 11-24-12 3:57am; N. Kentucky Avenue adjacent to Draper Drive; Incident # 12-11-028; arrested: Daniel Douglas Petitt (no OCU affiliation); Sergeant John Jackson observed an adult male dressed in all black clothing with a black back pack. He interviewed the subject and determined he was providing false informing relating to his identify. He told the subject, later identified as Daniel Douglas Petitt (no OCU affiliation), that he would detain him until his fingerprints revealed his identity. Mr. Petitt eventually provided his true name which revealed he had 3 felony arrest warrants for Theft of Property and 20 warrants for Breaking and Entering out of Arkansas. Mr. Petitt was arrested and transported to the Oklahoma County Detention Center where he signed an OCU Notice to Vacate form. Later, Sergeant Jackson searched the area where Mr. Petitt was arrested to ensure there were no property crimes committed.
Medical Assist Saturday, 11-24-12 9:18pm; 4605 N. Pennsylvania Avenue; Incident # 12-11-029; victim: student; Officer Michael Haynes was informed by phone that a friend (no OCU affiliation) of an OCU student was at her off campus residence and was experiencing seizures. The officer went to the above residence on a welfare check. He summoned EMSA who arrived on scene. They observed the student/victim setting on the sofa speaking on the phone and became unresponsive. The EMSA staff observed her to stop breathing on two occasions and provided medical assistance. After she stabilized, she was transported to Baptist Hospital. OCUPD dispatcher was unable to communicate with any of the victim’s relatives but did leave a voice message with her father.
DUI, Escape-Attempt to Escape Lawful Detention and Obstruct Public Officer in Discharge of Duties Saturday, 11-24-12 11:38pm; Incident # 12-11-030; arrested: Sacha Nicole Swift (no OCU affiliation); impounded vehicle: black 2008 Toyota YAR 4dr; Officer Michael Haynes observed a black Toyota travelling on a flat tire at NW 23rd and Pennsylvania Avenue. The vehicle drove onto the McDonald’s Restaurant parking lot and attempted to enter the drive-through service lane. He stopped the vehicle and assisted the driver in exiting the vehicle due to a high level of intoxication. He noticed the driver, later identified as Sacha Nicole Swift (no OCU affiliation); to have the odor and comportment of a person with an alcohol induced state of intoxication. After being handcuffed and placed in the patrol unit, she became belligerent, combative and was able to remove the seat belt and exit the patrol unit and run approximately 20 feet before being taken back into custody. As the officer was communicating with the wrecker driver, she again was able to exit the unit and was again taken back into custody. At the officer’s request, an OCPD officer arrived on scene with a patrol unit with a back seat cage. She was bound at the ankles, placed in the caged unit and transported to the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Ms. Swift refused to participate in the Informed Consent, etc. procedures. Her vehicle was impounded.
