Sarah Beth White, dance performance junior, was crowned Miss OCU 2013 Friday evening.
Fifteen contestants competed in the pageant for scholarships and an opportunity to win the crown and represent OCU at Miss Oklahoma in June.
“I think I am still in shock,” White said. “It’s always something you hope for.”
White also took home an award as the winner of the “Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit.”
“I want to represent my school as best I can at Miss Oklahoma,” she said. “I also want to be as active in the community as possible.”
White performed a jazz dance during the talent portion of the show and her platform is “Literacy Matter—Reading is Fundamental.”
April Nelson, musical theatre junior, and Miss OCU 2012 has mixed emotions on the passing of the crown.
“It’s sad, but also I’m so excited for Sarah,” Nelson said. “She is so talented, so sweet and so stunning, and just all around going to be a great Miss OCU.”
Others winners of the night included:
Miss Congeniality, Tabitha Rooney, musical theatre junior,
Talent, Kelsey Griswold, acting junior and Victoria Renard, dance management sophomore,
Fourth Runner-Up, Eileen Chase, acting senior,
Third Runner-Up, Sheridan Fulkerson, vocal performance senior,
Second Runner-Up, Victoria Renard and
First Runner-Up, Kelsey Griswold.
Second, third and fourth runners-up receive half tuition paid for the spring and fall 2013 semesters.
First runner-up receives full tuition for the spring and fall 2013 semesters.
Miss OCU receives full tuition, including room and board for one year, along with several other prizes to prepare for the Miss Oklahoma 2013 Pageant.
