Oklahoma City University will hold a dedication ceremony for an art collection donated by Bobbie Burbridge Lane and the Burbridge Foundation.
The ceremony will be part of Homecoming festivities and will begin at 11 a.m. Nov. 3 in the University Center.
The Burbridge Foundation donated more than a dozen paintings to the university.
The collection features Christian-themed oil on canvas paintings, many of which are on exhibit in the Dulaney-Browne Library.
The pieces include a 17th century Dutch School painting titled “St. John the Evangelist,” “The Wise Men Follow the Star” by J.V.R. Patch, “Jesus with Pilate,” a French School work titled “Moses Striking the Rock” and “Jesus with Woman at the Well.”
Burbridge Lane, president of the foundation, also loaned the university a statue of Ruth that is on display in the Clara E. Jones Administration Building foyer.
“I think of Bobbie Burbridge Lane at least twice daily as I pass by the sculpture her family’s foundation has loaned us,” President Robert Henry said. “And, like Ruth, she is a woman with a mission.
“Whether bringing fabulous art conveying timeless biblical virtues as the creator at Kirkpatrick Auditorium of the spectacularly successful and entertaining Senior Follies, her vital life force is always at work.”
