Oklahoma City University was ranked in the top 100 best private colleges in the country by a leading financial advisement firm.
OCU is listed higher than any other private college in the state.
Kiplinger, a Washington D.C. business forecaster and financial adviser, ranked the university No. 39 in the country in its Best Values in Private Colleges report released Oct. 24.
The rankings are a testament to the university’s quality and value, President Robert Henry said.
“We are proud to be considered one of the nation’s best schools by yet another independent group,” he said. “Our high achievement puts us in a peer group with the most prestigious universities in the country—Yale, Harvard, MIT and Princeton among them.
“This is a testament to the hard work of our faculty and administrators to give our students a great education at an exceptional value. We are also proud to offer prime access to employers.”
The report started with data from about 600 private universities and was narrowed down to the top 200 in two categories — top universities and liberal arts colleges. The rankings are based on academic quality and affordability. The criteria included cost and financial aid, competitiveness in admissions, graduation rates, student indebtedness, and academic support.
The report will be part of the December issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine, which publishes on Nov. 7.
