Candidate posters are tagged on bulletin boards around campus, indicating the arrival of freshman elections.
Each year Student Government Association hosts an election to fill Student Senate’s freshman-at-large position with an incoming freshman.
Fall 2012 election began Sept. 12 at midnight. The polls will close Sept. 13 at 5 p.m.
Only freshman students are allowed to vote in the election.
They will choose a person to represent their class in the legislative branch of SGA, where he or she will help apportion money to campus organizations.
Five candidates are running this year for Student Senate’s freshman-at-large chair.
They are as follows: Jordan Beall, Chance Johnson, Alexander Knight, Lauren Sarchet and Jessica Vasquez.
The election process is important because the campus community is diverse, said Harmonniey Cheadle, justice studies senior.
“It’s important for them to vote, specifically so they can find someone to best represent their voice,” she said.
