Representatives from Oklahoma City television stations visited campus March 27 to interview a few members of the recently-crowned national champion women’s basketball team. The women defeated Union University 69-48 at the National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics national championship in Frankfort, Ky., earning the No. 1 title.
Senior Guard Tiffany Goldwire was one of the interviewees. She recapped the experience of winning the national title for the TV representatives, describing it as surreal.
“It was incredible because it’s something you’ve always dreamed about accomplishing,” she said. “It was worth everything I had to do to get to this point.”
Goldwire attributes the national victory to the team’s successful collaboration— each woman knowing that she had the support of the other players.
“Defense wins games, and we played really good defense,” she said. “I think we were the best team we could’ve been.”
