President Robert Henry and Oklahoma State Senator David Holt will teach an undergraduate Honors class to expose students to current political issues.
“It’s very important to me personally to teach in the classroom,” Henry said. “This is a great opportunity to do so in a way that connects our students with the larger community.
“Our students will soon inherit the issues we’ll discuss in this class, and I know they will enjoy this chance to learn and discuss.”
The class will meet once a week during Spring 2012 to examine political issues at the federal, state and local levels, such as the federal budget deficit, water policy and MAPS 3.
They also will interact directly with policymakers.
Holt said that the class is appropriate for the upcoming presidential election.
“Our primary intent is to help these students become better citizens and statesmen for the rest of their lives,” he said.
