The Blue Goes Green initiative began on campus two years ago, implementing ways for students to “go green.”
Students should do their part in recycling while on campus, if they don’t do so already.
Recycling containers were placed on campus in Fall 2009 as a part of the university’s Blue Goes Green initiative.
The program installed blue recycling containers for plastic, cardboard and paper in most buildings.

The Blue Goes Green page on OCU’s website advises students who would like to recycle other materials, such as batteries and metal, to call the facilities department at (405) 208-5384.
Students should use this resource for any immediate recycling needs they have while on campus.
The BLUEtique, 1933 N.W. 23rd St., began a recycling program and serves as a drop-off point for items such as:
-ink toner,
-cartridges,
-prescription eye glasses,
-iPods,
-Zunes, and
-cell phones.
As a close-knit business to the university, students should take advantage of this opportunity for easy recycling.
Amanda Robinson, assistant manager of BLUEtique, sends campuswide emails periodically with “green” tips of the day.
One encouraged students to use Oklahoma City’s curbside program as a recycling alternative for materials such as aluminum, cans and jars.
With different local options available, students should participate in whatever way is most convenient for them.
