Ugh, what a disappointment this was. The film would have benefited greatly if it had kept its mouth shut in its preview rather than spoil the big twist. Knowing that the main guy’s family is dead the whole time, before the movie even began, had me fidgeting in my seat, bored with the tedious hints that led to the “big reveal”.
Psychological thrillers are supposed to perplex you and keep you guessing, not put you to sleep. This one tried hard to do the latter, and I had to keep reassuring myself that the plot was going to go somewhere interesting, that the ending would reward me. It doesn’t, and it didn’t. The ending was about as ridiculously sappy and anticlimactic as it gets.
Oh, but there was a great cast. However, they weren’t interesting to watch either.
All in all this was a poorly marketed thriller, ripe with ninety minutes of a muddled storyline and twists that we (unfortunately) know are coming. And the rest is so predictably unpredictable.
Rated PG-13 for violence, terror, some sexuality and brief strong language.
Running Time: 92 Minutes.
