Critically-acclaimed Andrew Lloyd Webber hit, “Jesus Christ Superstar,” is belting its way to the OCU stage just in time for its 30th anniversary.
The show is based on the last few weeks of Jesus’s life, building up to the crucifixion, said Dr. David Herendeen, director of opera and music theater.
“We are familiar with the story, and that will stay the same,” he said.
The story is presented in a rock-opera style, from the perspective of the infamous Judas, Herendeen said.
The show opens at 8 p.m. Friday, with additional performances at 8 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday in Kirkpatrick Auditorium in Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $12-25 with student discounts.
