A former law student now sports agent is returning to the university as a guest speaker.
Jeff Berry will come to speak about his career as a sports agent at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 in Homsey Family Moot Courtroom in Sarkeys Law Center.
His lecture will show law students that all the things they learn in school will come into play in the real world, he said.
An accomplished agent who has worked at IMG and currently heads up the baseball division of the Creative Artists Agency, Berry says that he enjoyed his time at OCU.
Berry was a graduate assistant for the Stars baseball team during his time in law school. Before attending law school, he played in the minor leagues for the Red Sox.
Berry said he sees the connection between being an athlete and being a good agent.
“You bring with you the things of the world that you have already acquired,” he said.
Berry said he was given advice that helped him through the difficulties of being an agent.
“Search for opportunity rather than what someone is going to pay you,” he said.
What he enjoys most about being an agent is that he is still involved in his favorite sport and is able to watch his athletes grow.
