Current Student Government Association leaders offered their support and wishes of good luck to incoming Senators April 5 at the last Senate meeting for the current Senate body.
Senators passed a Senate bill and approved recommendations made for allotments at the meeting.
There was about $1,100 in rolling appropriations at the beginning of the meeting, said President Justin DaMetz.
Senate received a $300 refund from SB 050, which funded $600 to cover expenses for lights for Relay For Life.
Senate also received a $300 refund from Kappa Sigma for funding for Casino Royale, which was canceled, said DaMetz.
Sen. David Scott (business) said it was good to hear there was more money in the account than they thought.
SB 055, authored by Sen. Edwards Ayo-Odugbesan (international), requested $900 to fund a graduation party hosted by Indian Student Association. The bill passed by consent.
Kayla Masnek, secretary of finance, and Scott then spoke about appropriations.
Caps placed on funding for organizations are $250 for T-shirts, $75 for food, $30 for advertising, and $250 for convention and registration fees.
There is no magic number when it comes to deciding how much money to allot, Masnek said.
Senators approved the recommendations made from a March 31 SGA allotment committee meeting, approving about $11,000 in allotments.
Current Senators met with Senator-elects after the meeting to aid their transition by answering questions and explaining Senate processes.
Inauguration for new members will be at 8 p.m. April 12 in the Great Glass Atrium in Wanda L. Bass Music Center.
