Students, alumni to perform in Sooner Theatre musical

NORMAN– OCU  will be well represented this Friday, April 1, when the musical theatre production of “The Wedding Singer” opens at The Sooner Theatre, 101 E. Main St. in downtown Norman.

Among the OCU students and alumni appearing in the show are Kourtni Beebe, Caroline Cradick, Jeana Forman and Emily Yowell. The show will be directed by Jonathan Beck Reed and choreographed by Amy Reynolds Reed.

Performances are 8 p.m.. April 1-2 and  8-9 , 2 p.m. April 3 and 10. Tickets are on sale now and are available through The Sooner Theatre.

“The Wedding Singer”  is a musical stage production based on the hit movie starring Adam Sandler. In the production, it’s the 1980s and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party, until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own.

The cast is led by Oklahoma City performers Lane Fields, in the role of Robbie, and Foreman, in the role of Julia; two kind-hearted, loveable characters made famous by Sandler and Drew Barrymore in the film version of the story.

College and high school students with valid school ID can purchase half-price “Student Rush” tickets at the theatre box office one hour prior to each performance when open seats are available. Student Rush tickets cannot be purchased in advance, by phone or online.

Other discounts are available for seniors (65+), children (12 & under), and groups of 10 or more.

To qualify for a group discount, (10) or more tickets must be purchased at the same time for a single performance. Orders may not be combined to qualify for a group discount.
