Senators approved one bill that was on the floor tonight.
SB 047 was approved, after amendments were made prior to the meeting. The bill was authored by Sen. Katie Alsup (sophomore at-large).
An original request of $65 for SPECTRUM’s Love Not Hate Day was amended to $95 to cover costs for sandwich boards, flyers and a snack tray for the guest speaker, Andrea Gibson.
The initial bill contained a mathematical error of $15, for which Alsup apologized. An additional $15 was added by the appropriations committee.
The event will be free and open to OCU but the Oklahoma City community.
After the passing of this bill, there is about $2,300 left in the rolling appropriations fund for the remainder of the semester.
Three new senators were sworn in tonight, before the voting of the bill so that they could participate in the decision.
Anthony England (junior-at-large), Patrick Hylton (athletics) and Tevyn Hill (music) were all approved for Senate.
President Justin DaMetz encouraged all the senators to submit any bills or resolutions, as there will still be two more Senate meetings for the year.
Sen. Macella introduced a transition plan for senators.
Senators should talk to their successors and help them by giving them advice for the upcoming year, he said.
Newly elected senators will be asked to attend the last Senate meeting of the semester, which will be April 5.
Cameron Bell, chief of staff reported to Senate that the inauguration will take place April 12 at 8 p.m. in the Great Glass Atrium in Wanda L. Bass Music Center.
All new members of Student Government Association will be required to attend.
