OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University’s March Blue-White Luncheon will take place at the Devon Boathouse, the new state-of-the-art home for Stars rowing.
OCU athletics holds monthly gatherings for the community to connect with OCU coaches and athletes and get the latest on the Stars. The next luncheon will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Devon Boathouse, located at 725 S. Lincoln Blvd., on the Oklahoma River.
Cost of the luncheon is $8 and includes a fine buffet lunch.
The Devon Boathouse boasts of the most comprehensive and innovative facilities ever built specifically for the sport of rowing.
The boathouse is set to be a high-performance training center for the nation’s elite-caliber athletes. The boathouse will provide facilities for USRowing’s new High Performance Training Center to be located in Oklahoma City.
The 33,000-square-foot, $10 million Devon Boathouse will include a training center, boat storage for OCU’s varsity rowing program, indoor seating with views of the regatta finish line and an outdoor performing arts area.
“We set out to create the most technologically advanced boathouse in the world,” OCU rowing coach Mike Knopp said. “Not only is the Devon boathouse the premier place to train for rowing and paddle sports, but it is also a unique place to host private events.”
The Devon Boathouse also will serve as an anchor for community activities and youth rowing programs. Meeting rooms, event spaces and workout facilities will be available to the general public.
