OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University has determined head men’s basketball coach Kevin Morrissey will not return for the 2011-12 season.
Morrissey has spent the past three seasons guiding the Stars. OCU went 49-39 under Morrissey’s direction.
The Stars were 17-13 this past season. Oklahoma Baptist ousted OCU from the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament in the quarterfinals Thursday.
A nationwide search for OCU’s next head men’s basketball coach will begin immediately. Quinn Wooldridge, an assistant under Morrissey, has been named interim coach.
“We really appreciate the efforts Kevin put in as our coach,” OCU athletic director Jim Abbott said. “We believe this decision to be in the best interests of our program and university.”
