CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Oklahoma City University’s Laura Jones stood six strokes off the individual pace Monday through 36 holes of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Classic at the Corpus Christi Country Club.
Jones, a senior from Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, England, posted a 75-77–152 to be tied for 13th place. Julia Roth of Central Arkansas and Paulo Valerio of Texas-San Antonio held the individual lead in the tournament.
OCU, ranked fourth in NAIA women’s golf, recorded a 317-321–638 to hold the advantage on two NCAA Division I teams. UTSA led the field with a 299-298–597 on the par-72, 6,073-yard course.
The Stars’ Paige Martin, a senior from Ardmore, Okla., turned in a 79-81–160, and Tanya Tibshraeny, a sophomore from Westhaven, Kirkwood, South Africa, had an 83-77–160.
Madison Haley recorded an 80-86–166 for OCU, while Taylor Howard put together an 84-88–172.
The final round of the Islander Classic starts 8:15 a.m. Tuesday.
