Students and members of the community will get the opportunity to experience talent from around the world.
The Multicultural Student Association is hosting FACES, their annual international talent competition from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 25 in Petree Recital Hall in Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center.
Sooner Davenport, vice president of the multicultural student association, said the competition allows students to share their culture with others around the community.
“It’s an international experience,” she said. “It’s unique to experience the culture of other people throughout the world not just those in Oklahoma or in the United States.”
Different talents expected to be seen include traditional dances, songs and music from the countries of participants competing.
Audience members will get the chance to be involved.
Two “audience chosen” favorites will be awarded cash gift cards at the end of the night.
Lauren Funches, freshman political science, said she thinks the competition is a great way to befriend international students and get introduced to their culture.
“I think it would be a great way to display the talents of foreigners that come here,” she said. “I guess it’s a good way for us to reach out to them because a lot of times they are isolated from American students.”
Applications for students interested in competing are still being accepted. For more information or to enter the competition contact Davenport at bdavenport@my.okcu.edu. Admission is free at the door.
