OKLAHOMA CITY — Middle school and high school students from the metro area will present their projects Feb. 18 at OCU during the annual Oklahoma City Regional Science and Engineering Fair in the Tom and Brenda McDaniel University Center. The center is located near Florida Avenue and N.W. 25th Street, south of the Henry J. Freede Wellness and Activity Center.
The public may view the projects from noon to 2 p.m. An awards ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. in the Meinders School of Business at N.W. 27th Street and McKinley Avenue.
OCU’s Petree College of Arts and Sciences is hosting the contest, which will feature the winning students from individual Oklahoma City-area schools. Winners of the regional contest will go on to the state contest in Ada in March, and state winners will qualify for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles in May.
Biology professor Adam Ryburn, who is organizing the science fair at OCU, said he expects to have approximately 50 projects in the contest Friday. Faculty members in the OCU Science Department will serve as judges.
“This is a tremendous experience for these students. They get to showcase the hard work they have been doing over the past year,” Ryburn said. “The parents and teachers of these students should be applauded for their efforts in raising and mentoring tomorrow’s scientists and engineers.”
