OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City University will host a photography exhibit opening reception and gallery talk at 4 p.m. Feb. 21 for Windle Turley titled “One of Nature’s Most Spectacular Migrations: Will it Continue?” in the Norick Art Center at N.W. 26th Street and Blackwelder Avenue. At 7:30 p.m., Turley will give a presentation in Walker Center room 151 at N.W. 26th Street and Florida Avenue. The events are free to the public.
Turley has written three books, most recently a photographic chronicle of the lifecycle of monarch butterflies called “The Amazing Monarch.” The book follows the unusual migration techniques of the insects between Mexico and the northern U.S.
Turley was granted access by Mexican wildlife officials to photograph the insects in their natural habitats at their sanctuaries. He has traveled the world photographing wildlife for more than 25 years. His exhibits have been praised for their unique composition and character.
Turley was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus by the OCU School of Arts and Sciences in 2006. He is president of the Turley Law Firm in Dallas. His other two books, “Aviation Litigation” (1986) and “Firearms Litigation” (1988), were published by Shepard’s/McGraw-Hill.
Turley’s exhibit will be on display in the Nona Jean Hulsey Art Gallery in the Norick Art Center until March 18. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
