Art Cotton announced his resignation to take affect next month. The vice president for advancement and external relations said he was offered position with the Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation.
“I’m not sure what my position will be, but I will help with fundraising for the river, boathouse and things like that,” he said.
Cotton assumed his role at OCU in August of 2003 and has led several major OCU fundraising campaigns including the university’s $100 million centennial campaign and the recently-completed $50 million Cradle of Dreams campaign.
He has served almost eight years at OCU and more than 20 years of work in executive-level administrative management. The university will conduct a nationwide search to fill his position.
“On a personal note, I want to thank each of you for making my time here the most rewarding tenure of my professional career,” Cotton said in a press release. “I have cherished the opportunity to work with the faculty, staff, trustees and most of all our wonderful students.
“Hopefully I leave this great university better than I found it. Oklahoma City University’s best days are still ahead and its future is bright under the leadership of President Henry. Again, thank you for the honor to have been part of the OCU Family.”
Sandy Cotton, Art’s wife and OCU’s senior director of university advancement and development, will continue her employment at OCU, Art said.
